The Lincoln Family

A friend of mine told me her middle name is Lincoln. It’s her father’s middle name too. I did some research and found that she descends from a long line of Lincolns. I was able to dig back to the 1500s. Her family came to the American colonies before the Mayflower! The Lincolns settled in Hingham, Massachusetts. Her family tree also includes Langer, Hobart, Stetson, Clapp and Kimball.

Vital Records

One of the discoveries I’m enjoying most are the handwritten vital records from Hingham.

The first entry records the death of my friend’s ancestor, Richard Langer. Near the top of the second column we see the death of Thomas Lincoln’s son Thomas. Shortly after, the widow Lincoln (nee Margaret Langer) died. At the bottom of the same column is the birth of Samuel Lincoln’s daughter Mary. On the right hand page is recorded the birth of Bethiah Lincoln, daughter of Steven and Elizabeth Lincoln.
This page records the birth of Deborah Lincoln to Joshua and Deborah (nee Hobart) Lincoln. On the second page is recorded the birth of Thomas Lincoln to Benjamin and Sarah Lincoln.
This page on the right records the birth of Solomon Lincoln to Joshua and Deborah.
On the page at right is listed Solomon Lincoln’s red horse with a white foot.
